All Camps What to Expect: Year-by-Year

Q: What grade should I start going to college camps?

A: It’s perfectly fine to wait to go to camps the summer before your senior year. If you are an elite, top prospect in your state, you may be encouraged to attend camps the summer before your junior or sophomore year.

If financially possible, attending camps prior to your junior or even sophomore season are a great way to help you begin to get your name out there, and help you understand what to expect, in case you might get nervous or jitters. If you go as an underclassmen, you will likely be more comfortable and confident as a senior, and know what to expect. By going to camps early, you can start building relationships with coaches in the area, and get time to ask them what you specifically need to be doing to get better, and to get recruited.
